Question
How is Spot-A-Pup different than other pet adoption sites and services?
Answer
Spot-A-Pup is the only site out there that shows you which breeds AND individual adoptable dogs best match your personality and lifestyle. What's more, Spot-A-Pup also tells you where to find the dogs that match you.
Question
Why does Spot-A-Pup only show adoptable dog results from rescues and shelters and not from places where you can purchase a dog?
Answer
We at Spot-A-Pup are strong believers in making the world a better place for pets. According to statistics gathered from The Humane Society of the United States, millions of pets are euthanized every single year at shelters across the nation. Also, it's estimated that the vast majority of the puppies sold at pet stores are the products of cruel puppy mills, or commercial breeding facilities. At these places, the parents of those pet store puppies suffer greatly. For more information on puppy mills, please visit http://www.stoppuppymills.org. Spot-A-Pup works to be a part of the solution in ending puppy mill cruelty while placing all of the adoptable dogs out there in the wonderful homes they deserve.
Question
As a rescue/shelter, how can we list our dogs on Spot-A-Pup?
Answer
All of our adoptable pet listings come from RescueGroups.org, a non-profit organization which provides data management, website and other free and low-cost services to animal welfare organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Visit RescueGroups.org (http://www.rescuegroups.org) to register your shelter and begin listing on Spot-A-Pup.
Question
How can I get a list of all the dogs up for adoption?
Answer
Leave all fields blank in 'Find a Dog,' and click on the 'find' button. That will return all of the dogs that shelters and rescues have registered with Spot-A-Pup.
Lastly, you should always spend some time with a dog before making the commitment to adopt.
